have you ever contemplated the "life of a garment?"
think of all the places its been,
think of all the stories it has,
think of all the joy it has witnessed,
think of the sadness that enveloped it at one time...
Take for instance your prom dress from 1991. Flash back with me as I travel through time. She saw your excitement and anticipation for the night to come. She witnessed your anxiety and angst on wanting your "look" to be perfect!!! Goodness if we could see what perfect is now!!!
She glowed in the joy of having a pink ribbon sewn into her fabric. She shivered with anticipation as you placed her over your head. She felt comfortable. She moved with you, she heard the giggles & anxious chatter of the other girls as they arrived at your house.
She felt the strong arms of the one you loved at the time as you glided across the dance floor. She felt the heat as the young man kissed you goodnight. She felt the release as she took you off and you laid in a heap at the base of her closet.
years passed....
The prom dress from 1991 made its way back into this very consignment shop. She is proudly displayed downstairs for all to see and is available for purchase at any time. This, this is life of a garment, although a snippet, it is a piece of the traveling journey. May she eagerly await her next debut.
